Are you ready to drive impactful change in the world of oncology? The Medical Evidence Delivery Operations within AstraZeneca's Oncology Business Unit is at the forefront of delivering observational and interventional studies, externally sponsored research, and early access programs. As the Director of Operational Excellence, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure our Evidence Delivery Team operates at peak efficiency. Your role will be pivotal in aligning resources with AstraZeneca's strategic goals, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You'll be a catalyst for change, ensuring our operations not only meet current needs but are positioned for future strategic opportunities.

Accountabilities:

  • Resource Optimization: Lead resource and capacity planning activities to efficiently deliver the existing and future portfolio of studies, ensuring transparency of data.

  • Ensure alignment of resources with AstraZeneca's strategic imperatives, optimizing allocation to support global initiatives.

  • Monitor FTE capacity and develop operational plans and forecasts based on future demand.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to resource allocation and capacity constraints.

  • Validate & maintain resource algorithms to predict various needs and financial impacts.

  • Maintain accurate resource tracking for visibility across all projects.

  • Partner with functional resource managers and finance directors to secure necessary FTE allocations.

  • Optimizing Operational Efficiency: Implement process improvements across the Evidence Delivery Team.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability within operational practices.

  • Change Management: Lead teams through organizational changes, ensuring motivation and readiness.

  • Resource Utilization Monitoring: Establish metrics to monitor utilization and exceed productivity targets.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance operational capabilities.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in operations and develop mitigation strategies.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Solid experience in resource management, including capacity planning and allocation.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing operational strategies that enhance efficiency.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams through change management initiatives.

  • Experience in utilizing data analytics for decision-making and measuring success.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, collaborating across multiple functions and regions.

  • University degree (or equivalent).

  • High cultural sensitivity, negotiation, collaboration skills, and extensive networking capabilities.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Exposure to or experience in portfolio analysis and management.

  • Several years’ experience working within a pharmaceutical organization.

  • Knowledge of different types of medical activities, including evidence study delivery.
